I purchased this for sun protection in Arizona. I like that it’s lightweight and covers more of my face than the more expensive Outdoor Research hat that I have. I do not wear it with the added front face shield because it’s too hot and the material is not very breathable. It does a good job of protecting the sides of my face and some of my chin. I bought this for my husband who spends all day gardening ever since we retired. He developed basal skin carcinoma on his right ear and underwent surgery last year. I got this item since it has added protection for the face since treatment of his face for precancerous cells after the procedure indicated the presence of a lot of precancerous cells on his nose and cheeks despite his wearing two similar hats without a face protector. I gave it 4 stars thus far since he has only used it a few times since it arrived and we won’t know whether it will help lessen the effect of UV rays on his skin until he has used it for 6-12 months.
